Once again, Tibor Reels sets the standard for quality, design and innovation with the Tibor Signature Series. 2011 marked the 45th Anniversary of Tibor Reel Corporation, and to celebrate, Tibor introduced a revolutionary new line of reels that are the pinnacle of 45 years of designing and manufacturing the world’s finest fly fishing reels.
Signed by Master reel designer and fly fisherman Ted “Tibor” Juracsik, the elegant and efficient design of the Tibor Signature Series consists of very few parts. It features a completely ventilated spool and frame that keeps the reel cool during long, smoking runs and provides a robust incoming and outgoing clicker sound. Available in five sizes, the Tibor Signature Series delivers the same tough standards that have earned Tibor over 950 world records – more than any other fly reel.

These signature reels are beautifully crafted from the highest quality materials. Their design is robust and can be easily serviced at home with the Tibor Reel Service Kit that comes with the Tibor reel shine, graphite lube, and all purpose grease. I take mine apart to bare bones and throw the parts in an ultrasonic cleaner, regrease, relube and have a brand new reel. This reel is really a tool that you can hand down to your children and grand children. The design tolerancing of the spool to the hub and the latch paws to the drag disk are well sized to keep line and debris out of the way. Over the life time of the reel you may need to replace the spring on the clicker located on the hub of the reel and the latch paws. These can all be purchased for a few dollars on the Tibor website. For 20$ you can get a life time of latch paws, springs, and the clicking element. The only 2 critiques I can offer to a new buyer of this product is that the clicker does have a tendency to collect sand if you fish the beach and the 11/12 wt has a degree or 2 of dead band where the spool rotates marginally when casting. If you take this reel to a remote destination and run into an issue you can easily access all critical components with a coin. Though it is marginally heavier in all sizes than the Tibor Gulf Stream, Riptide, and Everglades I prefer the design for serviceability and pair it with a faster rod. It is one of the highest performing cork drag reels on the market today and have been very happy with my experience using all sizes of the signature series reels.
