Capt. Honson Lau's Favorite Biscayne Bay Flies
Captain Honson Lau has been guiding Bicayne Bay, Florida Keys, and the Everglades for years. With multiple tournament wins under his belt, he earns the title as one of the best guides around in South Florida. Honson has agreed to share his 3 favorite flies for Biscayne Bay.
E.P. Spawning Shrimp
"This is a must have pattern in everyone's box for targetting Bonefish, whether you're in Biscayne Bay, Florida Keys, or the Bahamas. This Shrimp pattern is sparse, realistic, and tied on a quality hook. I prefer fishing a tan color in the spawning shrimp in almost all scenarios."
Strong Arm Merkin
The Strong Arm Merkin is a great fly that has been tweaked over the years to have a chenille claw out the back that acts as a keel and helps the fly sink properly. "The rate and angle of which a fly sinks is critical to getting a permit to commit.
Kwan
A Kwan is one of the most universal flies in the book. From Redfish and Black Drum, to Bonefish and Permit, everything eats a Kwan. This is a very simple pattern with an EP Body and craft fur tail. This fly could suggest its a Toadfish, Shrimp, and anything else a bonefish eats.
